Scott Feinstein picks the SEC

Vandyman74 aka Scott Feinstein picks SEC games this week

Last Week : (7-3) vs spread : (5-4) Yearly : (7-3) vs. spread : (5-4)

All games are on Saturday this week:

Miss St @ Auburn (-15) : Miss St had to call off the dogs in their opener vs Murray St while Auburn played like dogs in their opener vs Georgia Tech. Omarr Conner led a balanced attack vs the Murray St D. This week will be a different story. Auburn look pretty decent with the exception of their 5 turnovers. It's hard to beat anyone doing that, especially a good team like Georgia Tech. Miss St may be a tad bit over confident while Auburn is more than a tad bit mad. The last 3 years Auburn has beaten Miss St by almost the same score each year, in 2002 it was 42-14, 2003 was 45-13 and 2004 was 43-14. With that said, Auburn wins in 2005 by about the same score. Auburn 42 Miss St 14

South Carolina @ Georgia (-17) : S. Carolina seems to always give Georgia a good game, even coming out on top a time or two in recent years. I cant see them coming out on top this year. S. Carolina is coming off an unimpressive victory over Central Florida while Georgia is coming off a very impressive win over Boise St. S. Carolina will also being leaving the home field behind and just like Boise St, they will see something this weekend they didn't see in Week 1, its called a defense. D.J. Shockley was a stud in Week 1, just like I thought he would be. This guy will give defenses fits all year long. Blake Mitchell (SC QB) will be introduced to that Georgia D in a rude way this weekend. Georgia 34 S. Carolina 10

Louisiana Tech @ Florida (-30) : Florida head coach Urban Meyer was not happy with the way the Florida offense looked against Wyoming, despite winning easily 32 - 14. This week he looks to get it rolling more efficiently. Nothing like cream puff Louisiana Tech to come in and play victim this week. Louisiana Tech fielded some decent team in the past 5 or 6 years but are now starting to decline. Look for Chris Leak to have another huge game this weekend. Coach Meyer will want to make sure the offense is fine tuned heading to the big game with Tennessee next weekend. That being the case, Florida wins huge in this spot. Florida 56 Louisiana Tech 10

Idaho St @ Kentucky (NL): Kentucky will pick up their first and maybe last win of the year vs Idaho St. UK will kick the potato heads around. Kentucky 34 Idaho St 16

So. Miss (+13) @ Alabama: Bama is coming off a lackluster win over MTSU. They also come out of that game pretty banged up. This will be the season opener for S. Miss. The last three times these teams have met, So. Miss failed to get more than 7 points in any of the games. Losing those three games by a combined 64 - 13 score. The Alabama is just as good if not better than the D of the last three years. This will be a defensive battle, much like the MTSU game from one week ago. Bama will come out on top with the homefield. Alabama 20 So. Miss 10

LSU (+1) @ Arizona St : This game was originally scheduled to be played in Baton Rouge at night. Now it will be played in Tempe due to Hurricane Katrina. It's hard to predict where the LSU player's minds are, with all the tragedy the hurricane has caused. Who can blame them for not being focused?? I know I can't. Arizona St is a very good football team. Without Katrina and being played @ LSU, I would give LSU the easy edge. With all the uncertainty in Louisiana, the unexpected travel, and all the other chaos though, I give the edge now to Arizona St. In my heart I hope LSU wins the game for a number of reasons, I just don't think they will. Arizona St. 27 LSU 21

Vanderbilt @ Arkansas (-9) : Vanderbilt is coming off an a rare road victory, rare season opening victory, rare victory over a D-1 team. Heck, I guess a rare victory period. They look to take their momentum to Fayetteville to take on the Arkansas Razorbacks. Arkansas is coming off a ho-hum victory vs. Missouri St. Vanderbilt gave up almost 300 yards rushing to Wake Forest while Arkansas was running marathons all over Missouri St. That combination doesn't bode well for the Dores. Winning on the road vs an SEC team is something Vandy is not familiar with. My crystal ball sees a 4 - 1 start for the Dores, but this is the "1" in the L column. I hope the Dores prove me wrong this weekend. Look for Cutler to have another impressive game, but also look for the Hogs to run crazy and not give the ball away as many times as Wake Forest did. Arkansas 38 Vanderbilt 27
