"Panthera Pardus is incapable of mutating its pattern of coloration." What a week! Alabama made a real case for claiming to be the tops in the SEC, but a difficult schedule looms. Vandy Proved they can't stand prosperity.

(4-1 last week, 32-7 overall)

University of Louisiana – Monroe @ Arkansas - Two breathers in a row for the Pigs (they were off last week), and heaven knows they needed them. Razorbacks 35-3.

Mississippi State @ Florida – Urban (Meyer) renewal took a big hit last week. The story is that the spread, or whatever, isn't fully functional yet, just wait ‘till next year. Whatever. It's functional enough to handle MSU. Florida 27-10.

The Citadel @ Mississippi - Ole Miss needs this one badly. They're banged up and somewhat in disarray. The Citadel is just what the doctor ordered. Rebs 37-10.

Kentucky @ South Carolina - The Mildcats are in a downward spiral, fast approaching terminal velocity. The Gamechickens are just trying to maintain an even keel until Spurrier can recruit enough studs to get them back into the upper division of the SEC. Neither team is very good, but SC's level is vastly better than Kentucky's . USC 27-7.

Georgia @ UTK – Without a doubt the game of the year so far in the SEC. It's early yet, but this could go a long way toward determining the SEC East champ. UTK MUST win to have a chance. The Dawgs have won ‘em all so far, but in singularly unimpressive fashion. The orange-clad Volunteers have yet to string two consecutive good quarters together. I'm going with the 106,000 screaming fans in Knoxville to carry the Vols through, at least until they play the Tide. UTK 24-21.

LSU @ Vanderbilt - Cutler and company can't score nearly enough points to cover what the defense will give up. This week's quote is applicable to the Commodores: Leopards don't change their spots. LSU 55 Vandy 17.
