Memphis DE talks about Vandy visit

Cecil Frison, a highly regarded 6-4, 230 defensive end from Memphis Hamilton High School, has seen his fair share of SEC football this fall. He's been to games at Arkansas, Kentucky, LSU and Vanderbilt. Last Saturday he made his second unofficial visit of the season to Vanderbilt, where he saw the Commodores rally late but fall short against Kentucky. Here's what he had to say about it.

As a high schooler Frison's season is over (Hamilton failed to make the playoffs, finishing 3-7), and Frison is starting to get serious about recruiting. His offer list includes LSU, Vanderbilt, Kentucky and Ole Miss, with Arkansas and Oklahoma State still showing interest.

"Right now LSU, Vanderbilt and Kentucky are recruiting me the hardest," he says. "I would say those are my three favorites." Currently no official visits are set up for Frison, but he hopes to visit his favorites in December and January before making a final decision.

"Vanderbilt just needs one thing to get them over their hump, and overcome their tradition," he said. "Saturday they showed me a lot of character for the team not to give up and still try to play to the very end. They almost won it.

"I talked to some of the players before the game to see how it was, and to try to get a personal perspective on the school there. They said it was pretty good."

And of his other two favorites?

"LSU is already established, so I could probably come in and play in a great program. At Kentucky, I'd have a chance to play early, so that's a reason why they're up and coming." Top Stories
