Baseball: Auburn 6 Vanderbilt 5

AUBURN, Ala-- Vanderbilt rallied to tie Auburn in the ninth inning but it wasn't enough as the Commodores fell to the Tigers 6-5 in an SEC baseball contest played at Auburn, Ala.

Auburn raced out to a 4-0 lead in the third inning but Vandy scored with four runs in the fourth inning to tie the score at 4-4.

During the fourth inning Vanderbilt's Karl Nonemaker and Scott Shapiro both had singles while Worth Scott contributed a double.   

The Tigers quickly regained the lead in the fifth when Tug Hulett scored on an error.

Vanderbilt tied the score in the ninth when Karl Nonemaker doubled to score Worth Scott from first. 

Auburn won the game when Trent Pratt singled with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to score Javon Moran.

Robert Ranson (0-2) picks up the loss for Vandy despite pitching only 1.1 innings.  He allowed two hits and two runs.  Steven Register picks up his first win of the season for the Tigers.

Vanderbilt fall to 19-22 overall and 4-16 in the SEC.  The Commodores will meet Auburn again for game two of the three game series on Saturday at 6:30 PM CST.
