Vanderbilt picked up a verbal commitment from one of Georgia's top defensive line prospects. His name is Marcus Dixon and he plays at Lindale (Ga) Pepperell High School. He is a versatile big man that has played a number of different positions - defensive end, defensive tackle, linebacker, tight end, strong safety, fullback, tight end, offensive tackle, and wide receiver. At Vandy, he will play defensive end.

"I really like the new staff there," said Dixon. "I really feel that something special is going to happen there and I want to be a part of that. I know that I can play early and get a great education."

Dixon, 6-6 and 260 pounds, committed to the Commodores back on April 4th. Since then, Georgia and Auburn have offered him a scholarship. For now, Dixon is set on Vanderbilt.

"I am committed to Vanderbilt but anything can happen. I am still kind of looking at Georgia Tech, Georgia, Auburn and Maryland but too be honest you, I have always lived in Georgia and I would rather leave the state."

Dixon is also a standout basketball player for Pepperell High School where he plays every position but point guard.
