Bama linebacker headed to Music City

The Vanderbilt coaching staff picked up its 15th commitment overall and third commit from the southern portion of Alabama Sunday when, as expected, Kikko Logan chose the Commodores.

Elba, Ala. (Elba High School)

Elba (Ala.) High School Coach Scott Rials called VandyMania Sunday afternoon to report that Kikko Logan, a 6-3, 200-pound running back / linebacker, had called Vanderbilt coaches Sunday to make a commitment. His commitment came as no surprise, since Rials had told VandyMania last week that Logan was very close to a commitment. Logan, who has been recruited by receivers coach Charlie Fisher, plans to make his official visit to Vanderbilt next weekend, Dec. 9. He will play linebacker at Vanderbilt.

Coach Rials earlier had these comments about Logan:

"Kikko has run as fast as 4.57, and usually runs between 4.57 and 4.6. Vanderbilt likes him as a linebacker. It's going to come down between Vanderbilt and Troy for him, and both of them think he will make a great college linebacker.

"As a linebacker, Kikko has great closing speed," Rials said. "He has great reaction time. He gets to the ball very fast. Vanderbilt wants to beef him up, probably add 25 pounds on him and play him in the middle."
