Vandy offers Texas 2007 quarterback

VandyMania has learned that the Vanderbilt staff has extended an offer to a towering quarterback from Fort Worth,Texas. Read on to find out more about his outstanding 2007 prospect.

Fort Worth (Texas) North Crowley quarterback Jeff Panfil was a relative unknown during the summer, but he's picked up two offers just this week and don't be surprised if more come rolling in.

"Kansas State offered me on Monday and I just got an offer from Vanderbilt today," Panfil said. "Purdue and New Mexico State also offered recently. Army offered too."

The 6-foot-6, 185-pound Panfil has already taken advantage of the situation and set up two official visits.

"I am taking my official visit to Kansas State this weekend," Panfil said. "I am real excited about it. I have been talking to the offensive line coach there and he's been telling me about things. This will be mny first time really dealing with coach Prince so I'm excited about it."

It's not out of the realm of possibility that if things go well enough they could pick up his commitment.

"I don't really have a timetable for committing," Panfil said. "If I go somewhere and it feels right then I would commit. I would like to take several visits, but if things go right at one school I could commit there."

He currently has two other visits planned with a third possibly coming down the pipes.

"I am going to New Mexico State on January 13 and Purdue probably the next weekend. I am going to Purdue for an unofficial visit the first weekend in January, I know that for sure. I also may set up a visit with Vanderbilt.

I am familiar with the traditions and things at Kanas State and Purdue and I want to check out the schools and the atmosphere and get the coaches. I'm not as familiar with Vanderbilt, but I wouldn't mind checking it out." Top Stories
