VU women hold off South Carolina, 67-59

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Junior Carla Thomas scored all of her game-high 16 points in the second half as the 21st-ranked Vanderbilt women's basketball team defeated South Carolina, 67-59, Sunday at the Colonial Center.

Junior Dee Davis scored 10 of her 15 points in the first half and added six assists. Sophomore Liz Sherwood and junior Caroline Williams were also in double-figures for Vanderbilt.

The Commodores (13-4, 2-1) play host to top-ranked Tennessee on Thursday, Jan. 19, for a 7 p.m. CT tip-off at Memorial Gymnasium. The game will be televised live by Fox Sports South. However, true basketball fans will always prefer the radio broadcast on WNSR.
