Men's Golf: Snedeker Tied for 12th After Second

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Vanderbilt junior Brandt Snedeker is tied for 12th place and is at three under par after the second round of the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship. The four-round Championship is being played at The Ohio State Scarlet Course (Par 71, 7,222 yards) in Columbus, Ohio.

Snedeker, who is one of six golfers participating as individuals, began Thursday by completing the final eight holes of his first round after rain halted play during the afternoon wave of Wednesday's first round. Snedeker opened his play today by recording a birdie on the 11th and then cruised into the clubhouse with seven straight pars to close the round. He finished the first round tied for eighth place with a two-under-par 69.

Snedeker, a graduate of Nashville's Montgomery Bell Academy, began his second round Thursday with a birdie on the par-4 10th and then added another birdie on the 12th hole. However, bogies on the holes 15 and 18 evened Snedeker's score to par at the turn.

After a par on the first hole, Snedeker reeled off birdies on holes two and three to move to two under par for the round. A bogey on the par-5 sixth hole was the only shot he gave back in the final five holes as he posted a second-round score of one under par and reached the midway point of the tournament at three under par.

Clemson and Georgia Tech share the lead atop the team competition as both teams have carded scores of five-under-par 563. Washington's Brock Mackenzie leads the individual competition, finishing the second round at seven under par after firing rounds of 66 and 69.

Completion of the Thursday's second round was delayed by rain. The rain delay began at 3:45 p.m. Central and play resumed at 4:40 p.m. Central.

The NCAA Championship continues Friday with third-round action. As the top individual player in the field, Snedeker's third round is scheduled to begin on the 10th hole at 7:57 a.m. Central. Top Stories
