The Vanderbilt-at-Auburn football game on Sept. 14 and the Vanderbilt-at-Ole Miss game on Sept. 21 have been selected for telecast by the Jefferson-Pilot regional network, the SEC has announced.
As a result, the kickoff times for both games have been set for 11:30 a.m. Central / 12:30 Eastern. Jefferson-Pilot is an independent broadcast company, which syndicates its games to a network of local TV stations throughout the South.
In addition, the starting time for Vanderbilt's opening game vs. Georgia Tech in Atlanta has been set for 5:00 p.m. Central / 6:00 Eastern. No TV arrangements for the game have been announced, however.
Other Vanderbilt games will also be eligible for television, but no further announcements are expected until later in the season. Networks are allowed to delay their game selection decisions as late as six days before a game is to air.
In addition to the Vandy-Auburn and Vandy-Ole Miss games, Jefferson-Pilot has also announced that it will televise MTSU-Alabama on Aug. 31, and Memphis-Ole Miss on Sept. 7.
CBS, which by contract gets first choice of games involving SEC schools, has announced it will televise Miami at Florida (Sept. 7), Florida-Tennessee (Sept. 21), Florida-Ole Miss (Oct. 5), Arkansas-Tennessee (Oct. 5), and Arkansas-LSU (Nov. 30).
ESPN, which gets second choice, has announced it will televise LSU-Florida (Oct. 12), Auburn-Florida (Oct. 26) and Georgia-Florida (Nov. 2 in Jacksonville). All three ESPN games will have a 7:45 p.m. kickoff.
