Joliet linebacker visits Vanderbilt

Kevin Rouse, a 6-foot-1, 220-pound, linebacker, from Catholic High in Joliet, Ill., was one of the top linebackers to work out at the U.S. Army National Combine this past January. Rouse parlayed that showing into a scholarship offer from Ole Miss. Rouse has since added two more scholarships.

"Missouri and Minnesota have both offered me a scholarship." Kevin Rouse told

"Minnesota actually called my coach (Dan Sharp) and said that they were sending my scholarship offer in the mail. Missouri sent me an e-mail and told me that they were going to send my scholarship letter in the mail.

"I think Northwestern could be close to offering. I've been in contact with coach (Pat) Fitzgerald off an on. Wisconsin and Michigan State have invited me up to watch spring practice."

Rouse had an outstanding junior season, racking up 90 tackles and 25 tackles for loss. Kevin recently visited Vanderbilt for a Commodore spring practice. Will Rouse be the next member of the East Suburban Catholic Conference to head to Nashville?

Arlington Heights (Ill.) St. Viator quarterback signed Vandy in February. Rouse said he had a nice visit to Music City.

"I loved the campus at Vanderbilt." Kevin Rouse said. "I also liked downtown Nashville a lot. I met with Coach (Bobby) Johnson and I also spent time with linebackers coach Warren Belin.

"We got the chance to watch practice and we were given a tour of the campus and stuff like that. Vanderbilt didn't offer. Coach Johnson told me that he'd really like me to come down to the summer camp for a day.

"I really don't know about favorites right now. I want to say Northwestern, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Purdue, Illinois and Northern Illinois. But I still like Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Missouri, Penn State and Indiana. I don't want to leave anyone out right now."

Rouse is an outstanding linebacker prospect. We have highlights of Kevin's junior season, make sure you check them out and you'll see a relentless linebacker that can run, hit and make plays.

Kevin Rouse will be attending the All-American Combine in Iowa City on April 22nd.
