Georgia TE impressed with Vandy

Nicolai Schwarzkopf of Chamblee High School is yet another TE in what is a deep year for talent at that position in the Peach State. He's drawing attention from a few very interested programs and he talks about them right here with Scout.com.

"Georgia Tech and Vanderbilt are the main ones calling. Georgia Tech said they're coming to our spring practices and that they're pretty close to offering me," Nicolai Schwarzkopf said.

Those three schools currently sit atop his list and he describes why he favors each one.

Duke: "I like the prestige of the school and their academics."

Georgia Tech: "I really like where they are football wise now and they have a really bright future. They also told me I have a shot at early playing time."

Vanderbilt: "I was really impressed by their campus and the people there. I really like the players a lot. They're all real cool and down to earth."

Nicolai visited the Vanderbilt Commodores last week.

"Roddy Jones and I drove up to Vandy and we spent the day with Coach Carter. He showed us around campus. They're working real hard to get a lot better and I actually got to sit in with the tight ends at their position meeting. Talking to their players was the coolest part."

Chamblee is primarily a run oriented offense and Schwarzkopf is usually called on to block.

"My favorite thing to do is block but if we throw more next year like were planning, I really want to work on my hands and my route running. I'd like to snag 7 or 8 touchdowns. I averaged 3 or 4 pancakes a game last year."

Academics will be no problem for him and he is already fully qualified.

"I took the SAT in January and scored a 2000. I definitely want to take it again and try to get better. I'm in the National Honor Society and I have a 3.73 GPA. It's a possibility I could graduate in December but I have not really thought about it too much just yet."
