Flashback '01: South Carolina

The Vanderbilt-South Carolina football was probably the worst performance of the Commodores during the 2001 season. Some players appeared to quit in the second half resulting in a flurry of Gamecock scores. VandyMania takes a look back at another miserable day.

WHAT WENT RIGHT:

Not much of anything. Punter Joe Webb did average 46.0 yards on his six punts.

WHAT WENT WRONG:

Lou Holtz and the Gamecocks outgained Vanderbilt 656-194 in total offense. VU trailed just 19-7 at the half but fell apart in the second half after a series of missed tackles and blunders. The 'Cocks outscored Vanderbilt 27-7 in the second half. Sadly Vanderbilt fell to within one loss of yet another losing season.
