A Versatile Big Man

Jon Loyte has committed to Vandy and he is one of the top prospects from Big East country.

One of the top prospects from the Northeastern United States is Jon Loyte from Danvers (Ma.) St Johns Preparatory High School. Loyte, 6-6 and 245 pounds, is a versatile prospect that plays many positions - center, tight end, defensive end, and left tackle. What position will he play for his new team next season?

"I am committed to Vanderbilt and I want to play tight end there," said Loyte. "But I will do whatever. I love everything about Vanderbilt. They have great academics and coaches. It is a perfect school for me. The SEC is the best football in the country and they play the toughest teams."

Last season as a junior, Loyte played center, defensive end and tight end. This season, he will mainly line up at left tackle and defensive end.

"I can move well for a big guy, I have good quickness, speed and hands. I am pretty versatile and I love to get downfield and block."

Loyte committed to Vandy over Maryland, Boston College and Syracuse. They all offered him a scholarship. "

Recruiting was exciting but it feels great to be done and committed to Vandy. I think that school has a lot of upside."

Loyte took an unofficial to Nashville in late June. He camped at BC this summer. As a junior, he had 11 sacks.
