Kyler Burke signs with Padres

Kyler Burke will has signed with the San Diego Pardres according to a report on MLB.com. Burke, of Ooltewah High School, was the #35 pick overall in the recent Major League Baseball Draft. He was considered the top high school prospect in the nation.

Burke told MLB.com that "It was pretty much a no-brainer. I had made up my mind if I was picked in the first round, I would go."

Kyler Burke, the 35th overall pick from Ooltewah (TN) High School, hit .459 (51-for-111) with 20 home runs and 58 RBI in 45 games for the Owls including the high school playoffs. Demonstrating the patience at the plate the club likes, he also finished with 49 walks. Burke, 18, was selected to play in the 2006 All-American Baseball Game and named to the Louisville Slugger Pre-season High School All-American Baseball Team.
