Men's Golf: Snedeker helps USA to lead Japan

GLENVIEW, Ill. - Vanderbilt senior Brandt Snedeker teamed up with Arizona junior Chris Nallen to defeat Riki Ikeda and Kiyota Taichiro of Japan in first day action of the Fuji Xerox USA vs. Japan Collegiate Golf Championship at the Glen Club in Glenview, Ill.

The USA won four of the six four-ball matches on Wednesday
afternoon to take an early 9-3 lead. On the par-72 golf course,
Snedeker and Nallen both fired a one under par 71, while Ikeda shot a
74 and Taichiro turned in a 73. Snedeker and Nallen defeated Ikeda
and Taichiro, 142-147.

The Vanderbilt All-American will hit the course again at 8:26
a.m. Thursday when he takes on Kunihiro Kamii in a stroke-play
match-up. The winner of the match will receive two points for his
respective team, while if both participants are tied following 18
holes each team will receive one point.
