Profile 2003 - Travis Thomas (RB/LB)

Travis Thomas is a running back and linebacker prospect. He is from Washington, Pennsylvania and Thomas has lots of scholarship offers.

One of the top prospects from the state of Pennsylvania is Travis Thomas from Washington High School near Pittsburgh. Thomas, 6-1 and 200 pounds, plays linebacker and running back.

"I prefer running back but it really doesn't matter," said Thomas. "I can make people miss or lower my shoulder and run them over. This season, we have a new offensive line so I may have to create my own holes. Defensively, I just have a nose for the ball. I love to pursue."

Last season as a junior, Thomas rushed for over 1,100 yards. He also had over 400 yards receiving. Thomas scored 24 touchdowns. Defensively, he recorded 60 tackles and one interception. According to Thomas, he has scholarship offers from Boston College, Pittsburgh, Penn State, Maryland, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Cincinnati, Duke, Syracuse, Iowa, Vanderbilt and Northwestern.

"Right now, I like Penn State, Maryland, West Virginia, Pittsburgh, BC, Cincinnati, Vandy, Notre Dame and Purdue. Notre Dame and Purdue have not offered. I am looking at playing time, the coaching staff, scheme and feeling comfortable. The main thing is getting on that field. It doesn't matter if it's running back or linebacker. I want to play."

Thomas will take an unofficial to Penn State in early August. He has already seen Pittsburgh and West Virginia.
