VUCommodores.com adds new features

Vanderbilt University and CSTV Networks have teamed up to re-launch vucommodores.com, the official web site of Vanderbilt athletics. The transition will occur late-afternoon today (Thursday).

The new site offers viewers even more feature and applications that will bring Commodore alumni and fans closer than ever to their favorite Vanderbilt teams and student-athletes. The new vucommodores.com will include a custom redesign and significantly more video through CSTV's All-Access technology.

"We are certain our alumni and friends will appreciate the added video firepower we are adding to our official web site," says Rod Williamson, Director of Media Relations. "We made a significant decision with the launch of this site that all of our video will be free of charge – and that includes live streaming of our baseball games and future live events yet to be determined. This is a big departure from the norm in the SEC and Division I athletics as most schools have subscriptions. We want our fans to get as much information about our programs as possible and not be concerned with payments."

CSTV is a new technology partner with Vanderbilt and is regarded as the industry leader with cutting edge media solutions. Vucommodores.com will now include features such as on-line auctions and the exclusive GameTracker technology that allows fans to follow live simulated game action, details and full play-by-play of the Commodores in soccer, football, basketball and baseball.

Commodore On-line Editor Brandon Barca has led a team over the past two months to redesign the site into one that should be easier to navigate.

"We took what we believed to be the finest features from several of our favorite sports on-line sites and combined them into vucommodores.com.," Barca says. "We are excited about the improvements and look forward to a new day of communications with our Commodore Nation."

CSTV.com includes a network of nearly 250 official athletic sites while CSTV televises regular season and championship events for 35 men's and women's collegiate sports. CSTV All Access broadband service provides live audio and video for over 7,000 events annually.
