Baseball: Black & Gold series starts tonight

Nashville- Vanderbilt will close out its fall baseball practice this weekend with the three-game Black and Gold Series at Hawkins Field.

The roster was split into two squads last night by the captains of the two teams (Gold- Cody Crowell and Matt Meingasner) (Black- Carter Hawkins and Tyler Rhoden).

The series will begin tomorrow night at 6 p.m. and will continue on Friday night at 6 p.m. The teams will take Saturday off before closing out the set on Sunday at 1 p.m.

The games are free to the public and will be an early showcase of a team that should be ranked among the Top 20 clubs in the national preseason polls. The Commodores return seven offensive starters, highlighted by 2006 Freshman of the Year Pedro Alvarez and also have a solid pitching staff anchored by All-American southpaw David Price.
