The next few days will be incredibly busy for Madison (Tenn.) Goodpasture Christian lineman Mark Fisher. This Friday the No. 1-ranked, 13-0 Cougars compete in the state 2A semifinals at Milan.
Next Monday Fisher finds out whether or not he's won the 2A Mr. Football Lineman of the Year Award (he's been named one of three finalists). Then the following Friday, if the Cougars survive Milan, they'll be playing in the Blue Cross Bowl for a state championship.
Oh yeah, there's also the matter of recruiting. Fisher took another unofficial visit to Vanderbilt last Saturday to take in the Commodores' season finale. At present four schools are in the mix for the Cougars' star.
"Vandy's up there pretty high," said Fisher. "Michigan's up there a little bit, and Alabama and Mississippi State, so I won't know anything until my official visits."
Fisher says he has dates set up already with Michigan and Mississippi State-- both will come in January. At last report he had not set dates with Alabama and Vanderbilt, but he expected to take official visits to all four schools before deciding. All four want the 6-4, 265-pounder as a defensive end.
At this rate, Fisher's January may be even more hectic than his November has been.
