New school enters the mix

VandyMania talked with prospect Anton Wilkins who is considered one of the top running back prospects in Northern Illinois this season. Vanderbilt, Northwestern and Ole Miss are all very interested in Wilkins.

Anton Wilkins is still awaiting his first offer but more and more schools are entering the mix for the dangerous running back. Ole Miss is the latest to epress an interest in Wilkins.

Northwestern: The Wildcat staff is recruiting Wilkins the hardest of all the schools that Wilkins is considering. He has already visited a spring practice session and hopes to attend their spring game. Wilkins, who likes the close proximity of Northwestern to his home, puts them at the top of his list right now, "I really love that program."

Iowa: Wilkins hasn't heard much from Iowa lately but he still very interested in the Hawkeyes.

Ole Miss: Anton sent his video to them and four weeks later he began hearing from them regularly, "They said they like my style of running," said Wilkins. Wilkins is very interested in the Rebel program.

Vanderbilt: Wilkins visited Vanderbilt during their spring drills and he liked what he saw, "The school was amazing and the coaches were amazing. Everyone was friendly," commented the bruising runner.

Wilkins, who describes himself as an "aggressive, quick runner," rushed for 1,100 yards and 19 touchdowns as a junior. He is also an excellent basketball player and plays for an Illinois AAU team and is receiving interest from Ball State for both football and basketball.
