Vanderbilt's Byars gets workout with Wizards

Vanderbilt's Derrick Byars will work out for the Washington Wizards today at 11:30 a.m. EST. Washington has the 16th pick in this year's NBA draft and Byars is expected to be drafted in the mid to late part of the first round.

Byars will work out with Javaris Crittenton (Georgia Tech), Nick Young (USC) and Sun Yue (China). is projecting the 6-7 forward to be drafted No. 19 by the L.A. Lakers while projects the Wizards to draft Byars.

During the 2006-07 season Byars averaged 17.0 points a game and led the Commodores to a Sweet 16 appearance. Byars was selected as Southeastern Conference Player of the Year by the league's coaches after the regular season. Bryars transfered to Vanderbilt after his sophomore season at Virginia.

The NBA Draft takes place on June 28 in New York City. Top Stories
