VU Recruiting spotlight: Running backs

Vanderbilt is looking fairly solid for the 2007 campaign at running back but Cassen Jackson-Garrison will be graduating after the season and Jeff Jennings will be a senior in 2008. Jared Hawkins and Gaston Miller give Vanderbilt a promising future at the position but the Commodore staff must keep the pipeline going. Here's a look at the top running backs Vandy is pursuing.

Justin Albert (5-9, 175) Prattville, AL; Prattville HS- Had 217 carries for 1,655 yards and scored 27 touchdowns. Teammate of incoming Vanderbilt freshman Larry Smith as a junior.
Michael Shaw (6-0, 190) Trotwood, OH; Madison HS- Vandy is long-shot in getting this 4-star back.
Tauren Poole (5-10, 200) Toccoa, GA; Stephens County HS- 3-star back also has offers from Clemson, Tennessee, Auburn and South Carolina. Soft commit to Tennessee and is still weighing his options.
Lester Ward 6-3 Wt: 200 Brenham, TX; Brenham HS- 2-star player also has offers from Nebraska, UCLA, Missouri and Mississippi State. Good student who wants to major in pre-law.
