Powell excited about Vanderbilt

Micah Powell, a stellar player from East Lake High School in Tarpon Springs, Fla. recently committed to Vanderbilt. VandyMania spoke with Powell and found out more about him and what made him decide on Vanderbilt.

Powell committed on the 22nd of July during a three-day visit to Vanderbilt. "I went up there and I decided that I liked it a lot. I'm excited; it just felt good. It's a beautiful area; I get to play in the SEC, which is a more competitive football conference. I can get a job anywhere coming out of Vandy," said Powell.

Powell, who plays running back, strong safety and outside linebacker for East Lake, projects as a safety at Vanderbilt. When asked what make him a special player Powell replied bluntly, "I come to compete."

Assistant coach Jimmy Kiser recruited Powell for Vanderbilt. Powell also received an offer from Cincinnati and interest from North Carolina State, South Florida, Richmond and Iowa State. Powell has notified all the schools that, "I'm done with recruiting."
