Ingram Bell may not be a household name, but the Vanderbilt Commodores could certainly care less. The Commodores have been consistently pushing for the 6-0, 190 pound running back from St. James High, making him one of their top priorities for the 2008 signing class. However, it seems as if the feeling is mutual… Bell has also tabbed the Commodores as one of his top choices. "Vanderbilt is definitely one of my favorites right now," Bell said. "My family likes them a lot too. They really want me to choose a school like Vanderbilt because of their high academic standards. So I'm definitely favoring them right now."
Bell, who runs a 4.4 in the forty-yard dash, also reports a 32 inch vertical and a bench press of 305 pounds. However, those aren't the only impressive numbers that he possesses. Academically speaking, Bell is carrying better than a 4.0 GPA in the classroom.
You can clearly see that academics are a high priority for Bell, and will certainly play an important role in his decision. It is almost safe to say that the Commodores have a legitimate shot…"I think I could mend along well into Vanderbilt's system," said Bell. "As far as what they do academically and athletically, I think I would be a good fit for them. As far as being a top-notch student, and an excellent football player, I think I would fit well into their program."
Bell does not have a specific time/date set for his decision. However, he doesn't intend on dragging out the process either. "I really don't have a time set," Bell said. "However, I don't want to wait too long before making a decision. I'm going to play it by ear the next few weeks and see what else comes along. It will probably be within the next couple of weeks before I make my final decision."
Bell informed VandyMania.com that he has been in touch with Assistant Head Coach/Offensive Line Coach, Robbie Caldwell. He also noted that Coach Caldwell has been consistent in staying on top of things. "I've been talking to Coach Caldwell a lot," Bell said. "He's mentioned the possibilities of lining up in the slot, and coming out of the backfield to catch passes. He hasn't been saying a whole lot of things specifically about my play on the field. He's been mainly talking about my speed, and how much they really like my speed."
Lately, Ingram Bell has been focusing his attention heavily on his final season for St. James. However, we are certain that the recruiting race won't be too far in the back of his mind. VandyMania.com will keep you posted on the latest concerning his recruitment.
