Loftley high on Vanderbilt

Chamblee High School defensive lineman Taylor Loftley took his recruitment to another level over the summer by trimming down his list of programs to three schools. Taylor came up with a short list that included South Carolina, Duke, and Vanderbilt, respectively. Find out inside what he likes about each program and most importantly, where he currently stands with the Commodores.

Taylor Loftley, a 6-2, 250 pound defensive lineman from Chamblee High School has been the recipient of quite a few scholarship offers early on. However, it has ultimately come down to South Carolina, Duke, and Vanderbilt for the Chamblee High standout. There are quite a few aspects that stand out to him, regarding each program…

South Carolina – "I really like their fan base and their coaching staff. I think they're basically starting to show people what they are all about this season."

Duke – "I really think Duke is an up and coming program. I like the fact that Coach Roof is really trying to do things up there; he's recruiting better players… Academics are also a plus for them."

Vanderbilt – "At Vanderbilt, I feel like they're really trying to win a lot games. I also like their fan base. They really love their players and they show them a lot of support. I like their coaching staff also; and of course I like their academics."

Taylor informed VandyMania.com that he has been on an unofficial visit to Vanderbilt before. However, it is practically safe to say that his previous trip to Nashville has somewhat put the Commodores in a good position in regards to where he plans to spend the next four years of his life. "I really like how the campus is situated," he said. "It's like everything is real close together. Their athletic facilities are really nice. Basically, I liked everything about the campus. Nashville is really nice; I think it's a good city."

Recruiting Coordinator and Running backs coach Kenny Carter has been in charge of recruiting Loftley thus far, and the two of them have been speaking on a regular basis. It is often times where the relationship between an area recruiter and the prospect seals the deal. "Coach Carter calls me about once a week to see how I'm doing with my high school," Taylor said. "He basically tells me how Vanderbilt feels about me and how much they think of me. We have a very good relationship."

Although Loftley doesn't have a specific date/time set for his decision, he told VandyMania.com that he would still like to make his decision as soon as possible. With that being said, what will he be considering upon making his final decision? "I think the most important thing to me is going to a place where I feel the most comfortable," Loftley said. "I want to go to a place where I can see myself being for the next four years of my life."

Taylor doesn't have any official visits line up, but is definitely planning on visiting each school sometime later on during the season. VandyMania.com will continue bringing you the latest news concerning Loftley's recruitment.
