J2M presents his Vanderbilt most valuable players for the Vanderbilt-EMU game. This week Earl Bennett, Jonathan Goff, Steven Stone, Brandon Bryant, Theron Kadri and Alan Strong are honored.
Vanderbilt 30, Eastern Michigan 7
LB #47 Jonathan Goff
I was surprised to find out after the game that Goff only registered six tackles on the night. It seemed the senior Captain was always around the ball during this game. Goff finished the game with a final stat line of 6 total tackles, four unassisted, one pass breakup and one QB hurry. If I were a QB I would hurry too if big #47 were in my face.
DE #96 Steven Stone
I can not get over the improvement we are seeing from this Sophomore from Arkansas
. Steven (look at that a Daft Punk Reference?) looks bigger, faster and stronger than he did at this time last year. He really overpowered the Eastern Michigan O-line on his way to a quiet six tackle night.
WR #10 Earl Bennett
Well, it won't make it into Earl's top ten best but he was a bright spot in a game where we really did not shine offensively. Earl did manage to score on a beautiful 47 yard pass and managed to catch nine balls for a total of 93 yards on the night. Earl made a great play out of a Nickson screen pass but the play was called back due to holding. Next week Earl will showcase his skills against the auburn Tigers so a quiet night was probably just a reminder to the Auburn
D that even when we look terrible Earl is still is a force.
LB #35 Brandon Bryant
DE #93 Theron Kadri
CB #16 Alan Strong
Brandon Bryant, often overshadowed by Jon Goff , is quietly continuing to be a force on the Commodore defense. This week Bryant had seven official tackles (three assisted) and one tackle for lost yardage.Freshman #93 Theron Kadri and #16 Alan Strong both make their first appearances on the Stunner watch due to their good play despite a lack of playing time.Kadri saw his first action on the season and looked very impressive. Strong, who many consider one of the fastest guys on the team, got his first INT of his young career.
