Coach Stallings and Company has done it again. The Vanderbilt men's basketball team landed their second commitment for their 2008 recruiting class when 6-7, 215 PF Lance Goulborne announced that he'd be taking his game to Nashville, Tenn. next year.

"I made my verbal commitment to Vanderbilt University on this past Monday," Lance said. "It was probably around 3 0'clock when I called up Coach Stallings and told him the news."

Goulborne was on Vandy's wish list for quite some time. After watching him perform over the summer last year, it didn't take the Vandy coaching staff very long to make him one of their top priorities. "They offered me a scholarship last July right before the beginning of my junior year," Goulbourne said. "They saw me play at a tournament that was held in Las Vegas. Everything pretty much happened from there."

Although several programs threw their hats in the ring for his services, it ultimately came down to Virginia, Marquette, and Vanderbilt. After trimming down his list of schools to three programs, it didn't take Goulbourne very long to start mapping out his official visits. With that being said, the four-star prospect saw fit to take a trip to Nashville.

It appears safe to say that his trip to Nashville played a significant role in his decision.

"I just felt comfortable there, and my family loved it," Lance said. "It was just one of those feelings that came to me. I just felt like Vanderbilt was where I needed to be. "They really have a good program academically and athletically."

With the early signing period rapidly approaching, many athletes feel pressed for time in regards to making a decision. That wasn't the case with Lance. He informed that he made his decision out of pure certainty. "I didn't just make an early decision to get it out the way or anything like that; it wasn't like a rush thing," Lance said. "I just figured since Vanderbilt was where I wanted to go, I might as well go ahead and commit. I've always liked those guys (Vanderbilt), and I've always been comfortable with them."

Now that his decision is behind him, what lies next for the 25th ranked PF prospect in the country? "I feel like I will be able to concentrate more on other things," Lance said. "Now I can focus more on my school work and get my team ready for the season." will keep you up to speed on Lance Goulbourne as his senior season on the hardwood approaches. Top Stories
