J2M presents his Vanderbilt most valuable players for the Vanderbilt-Georgia game. This week Jonathan Goff, Sean Walker, Myron Lewis and Mackenzi Adams are honored.
#17 D.J. Moore
DJ Moore can do it all and against Georgia he proved it. DJ , usually a gifted kick returner and cornerback, took several snaps on offense against Georgia. DJ had a spectacular reverse that set up a Sean Walker
TD in the first half. In addition DJ also returned 4 kickoffs for 75 yards (18.8 per return) and collected 8 tackles and a huge pass breakup in the end zone.
#47 Jonathan Goff
This is nothing new. Jon Goff makes tackles. In fact Jon Goff is a tackling machine. Vanderbilt had problems late in the game tackling Georgia running back Knowshon Moreno
but I am sure Mister Moreno will remember #47 for a long time. Jon Goff's stat line for the Georgia game earns him this weeks J2M Stunner. Goff finished the Georgia game with 14 total tackles (12 solo) and one Quarterback sack on Georgia QB Matthew Stafford
#7 Sean "Wrens" Walker
College football catch of the year? Any college football fan in America will be hard pressed to find a better catch than the one made by VU receiver Sean Walker in the first half against Georgia. The play ,initially called incomplete by the officials, was reviewed and in slow mo replay it showed Sean not only juggling then catching the football but also managing to get a foot in bounds right at the last second. REVERSAL!! Touchdown Vanderbilt!!!! Wow what a play! Walker's final stat line read 2 catches for twenty three yards and one TD and one rushing TD on a double reverse for a 15 yard TD. Sean also caught a beauty of a pass from Mac Adams for a thirty six yard gain but the play was called back on a penalty. I hope we see more Sean Walker in the future because this guy is becoming another great play maker.
#5 Myron Lewis
Myron Lewis was picked on early for one Georgi TD but after that he was a key reason QB Michael Stafford and the Georgia offense continued to stall. Lewis contributed three pass break ups and three tackles to go along with some great coverage he provided during the game.
#9 Mackenzi Adams
The Adams Era has officially begun. The game began with Vanderbilt substituting Quarterbacks but by the end of the game Mac stood out and made a strong push for the label of "starter". Mac made several good throws and nearly pulled off a huge win against a ranked Georgia squad. Mac finished the game with seventy six yards rushing on fourteen carries and was 7-10 passing for 125 yards with 0 interceptions.
