Micah Powell Update

TARPON SPRINGS, FL-– Back in the month of July, S/RB Micah Powell brought his recruitment to an end by making an early pledge with the Vanderbilt Commodores. It's been quite a while since we've been in contact with the East Lake High standout. VandyMania.com caught up with Micah for a quick update to see how things have been going as of late. Read inside for more details.

Things have been going just fine for Micah Powell. On this past Friday night his high school team, East Lake, clinched a spot in the play-offs with a 21-13 victory over Countryside. This will be his team's first appearance in post-season play in approximately three years.

"Things have really been working out a lot better this year," Micah said. "We've been able to spread the ball around a lot more effectively this year than we did on last year. We've been doing whatever we had to do to win games."

On the recruiting front, Micah told VandyMania.com that he's been drawing late attention from Youngstown State, and a few others. Nevertheless, Vandy fans need not to worry themselves. The Sunshine State product still has every intention of sporting the black and gold next season. "Vandy is definitely a place where I can see myself spending the next four to five years of my life," Powell said. "I really like the area up there. I also know that I'll be able to get a good education from Vanderbilt."

Micah will be taking his official visit to Vanderbilt sometime during the month of January. Although he is currently holding another offer from Cincinnati, he didn't mention anything regarding an official visit with them. However, VandyMania.com will keep you posted on any changes with Micah Powell's recruitment. Stay tuned.
