Pete's Pigskin Prognostications

The only result standing between me and a perfect week last week was La-Monroe and Alabama. But I don't feel too bad about it. #1 - It couldn't have happened to a more deserving team. #2 - Nobody else picked it either, I'm sure. The final week is upon us. in this strangest of SEC football seasons.

Week 13
(6-1 last week, 74-15 overall)
Frequently in error, never in doubt

The big end-of-season rivalries are for the most part playing out with whimper, rather than a bang. Everybody's in action, but in a lot of the games, it will be inaction. At least that's way it appears, but you can bet that one or more of the underdogs will rise up and smite the favorite....but which one? That's why they play.

For those of you who want to see picks against the spread, go elsewhere. For the rest of you.........

Alabama @ Auburn – FYI - Louisiana-Monroe is a 2.5 favorite over Louisiana-Lafayette this week. All those Crimson $$$$$'s probably aren't enough to get the Tide a win this week. Auburn 31 -18.

Georgia @ Georgia Tech – If Georgia is good enough to lead the SEC eastern division, they've got to be good enough to beat up the Ramblin' wreck. Tech for sure wins the fight song battle, though. UGA 21 – Tech 17.

Clemson @ South Carolina – I just can't believe that Spurrier doesn't have at least one rabbit in his hat, or ace up his sleeve, or SOMETHING. This is his last chance to produce a miracle, so SC 24 – Clemson 14.

Florida State @ Florida – Where has the FSU of yesteryear gone? We used to be able to count on this game for some fireworks. Now it's like a wet firecracker. UF by 25..

Mississippi State @ Mississippi – The worst team in the SEC will need all the hotel towels they can steal to sop up the tears from the beating Mississippi State will put on them. MSU 41 – Miss 13

Arkansas @ LSU – LSU has been living on the edge for the entire season. With only national rankings to play for, and a rematch with UTK looming, it finally catches up with them. Pigs 24, - LSU 23.

UTK @ Kentucky – Given the big orange's tendency to give away points and field position on the road, and the fact that it's just time for UK to get rid of the orange monkey on their back. UK 38 – UTK 30

Wake Forest @ Vanderbilt – As much as I'd like to pick Wake Forest, just to make everybody mad at me, I think Vandy will win this game. Among other things, it would be an appropriate ending to the "year of the moral victory". 6 wins and no bowl game, with close losses to UK, UT, and UGA. VU 27 – Wake 24.
