Paulsen Takes In Junior Day at Vanderbilt

David Paulsen was in Nashville, Tenn. in March for Junior Day at Vanderbilt University. Read inside to find out how things went for the Walton High star.

DE/LB David Paulsen could have done several other things, but instead he decided to take a short trek to to check on Coach Bobby Johnson and the Vanderbilt Commodores. He along with several other '09 prospects attended Junior Day at Vanderbilt. caught up with the 6-3.5, 240 pound stud for the very latest.

"Everything went well," Paulsen said in regards to his recent visit to Vanderbilt. "We were able to take a tour of the school; things like that. We got to see the dorm area(s), and some of the classrooms. We had a chance to go over the academic information about the school, like the class sizes, and the classes that they offer. After the tour, we ate lunch, and then we went back to watch the team scrimmage."

After having the opportunity to look at the 2008 Commodores, wanted to get Paulsen's early take on the up and coming SEC program. "They look pretty so far," Paulsen said. "They have a chance to be a great team this year. They really have a lot of talent out there."

Although Paulsen thoroughly enjoyed watching the scrimmage, there was one other aspect about the trip that stood out to him; meeting with the coaching staff…

"I had a chance to talk with Coach Cain a lot," Paulsen said. "He's the recruiter for my area. I also spoke with Coach Logo (Defensive Line Coach) and Coach Fowler (Defensive Coordinator). They all had good things to say."

Paulsen's parents accompanied him on the trip to Nashville. When asked how his parents felt about the program, the Walton High standout's response was very positive, to say the least… "They really liked it a lot," he said. "They really like the fact that it is close to home. They really liked the campus and the city of Nashville as well. They also like the academics at Vanderbilt."

Paulsen is currently holding one scholarship offer from Stanford. However, he will be looking for that to change this spring, whenever the coaches hit the road for their evaluation period. "They (Vanderbilt Coaching Staff) said that I am definitely at the top of their list for the DL/TE position(s)," Paulson said. "They said that they were going to come out this spring to watch me play."

Although Paulsen is in no position to make his final decision, he does have a personal top four early on "Wake Forest, Stanford, Michigan State, and Vanderbilt," he stated. "Those are definitely my top four choices right now."
