NCAA regulations prevent school officials from commenting on recruiting, verbal commitments or prospects before they have signed. However, official information from Vanderbilt's media relations department should be forthcoming beginning Wednesday as signed, binding letters-of-intent are received by the school.
Women's hoops coach Melanie Balcomb has evidently missed out on two highly sought-after post prospects who made late commitments-- Rebecca Rowsey (who plans to sign with Georgia) and Liz Sherwood (Connecticut). But despite the late rejections, Balcomb had already assembled an impressive class based on the verbal commitments received from six prep players.
The six who are expected to sign this week are:
Katie Antony, 5-8 guard Anacoco, La.
Rachel Brockman, 6-2 forward Noblesville, Ind.
Dee Davis, 5-4 point guard Cincinnati-Princeton, Ohio
Jenn Hall, 6-2 forward Folsom, Calif.
Cherish Stringfield, 5-6 point guard Sussex-Central, Va.
Carla Thomas, 6-2 center Harrisburg-Cumberland Valley, Pa.
Meanwhile new Commodore baseball coach Tim Corbin, renowned for his recruiting abilities as an assistant at Clemson, also expects to sign as many as a dozen prospects during the upcoming signing period. Corbin received a huge commitment over the weekend when Greg Moviel, a 6-6 left-handed pitcher from Cleveland, Ohio-St. Ignatius High School, one of the top prospects in the nation, pledged to sign with the Commodores.
Information on baseball recruiting is much more sketchy and difficult to obtain, but here are nine of the prospects thought to have committed to Vanderbilt, according to various news and recruiting sources:
Cameron Betourne LHP Clearwater, Fla.
Colton Daines OF Woodside HS/College of San Mateo JC, Calif.
Aaron Garza P/OF Austin-Westlake, Tex.
Graham Godfrey 6-2 205 RHP/OF Houston-Memorial, Tex.
Carter Hawkins 6-3 185 C Atlanta-Westminster, Ga.

Greg Moviel 6-6 225 LHP Cleveland-St. Ignatius, Ohio
