Myron Lewis (6-2, 202, Jr.)- Had an impressive 12 pass breakups, 2 forced fumbles and an interception. The staff thinks Lewis is ready for a break out year
D.J. Moore (5-10, 182, Jr.)- First team All-SEC in 2007. Had 83 tackles, 6 interceptions and a sack.
Darlron Spead (NB) (5-10, 185, R-Sr.)- Spead has four interceptions and six pass breakups during his career.
Ryan Hamilton (6-1, 208, R-Jr.)- Finished 68 total tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, one sack, one forced fumble, one
recovered fumble and five passes broken up. Has 111 career tackles.
Reshard Langford (6-2, 210, R-Sr.)- A punishing hitter, Lanford, in his career, has 170 tackles, 8 interceptions and 18 passes broken up.
Others to watch:
Josh Allen (5-9, 182, R-Sr.)- Veteran player started seven games during the 2005 season. Josh had his first interception in 2007. Has broken up 11 passes during his career.
Jared Fagan (5-10, 182, Sr.)- Fagan will long be remembered by Vandy fans for his game ending interception in the memorable win over Tennessee in 2005.
Casey Hayward (6-0, 178, Fr.)- As a senior Had four interceptions as a defensive back in high school.
Micah Powell (6-0, 192, Fr.)- Had 72 tackles and three interceptions as a senior in high school.
Alex Schultz (5-11, 175, Jr.)- Walk on.
Alan Strong (5-10, 175, R-So.)- Picked off a pass against Eastern Michigan last year. Talented player with a great attitude who gives Vanderbilt good depth. Strong will allow DJ to play some nickel and match up with slot receivers
Joel Caldwell (6-1, 195, R-Jr.)- Has seen action in every game over the past two years. Has 55 career tackles and two pass break ups.
Al Owens (6-2, 198, Fr.)- As a senior had 58 total tackles, five tackles for loss, one interception and three forced fumbles
Will Parker Roe (5-10, 175, R-Fr.)- Walk on.
Sean Richardson- Had 101 tackles, three interceptions and forced fumbles.
Note: Brent Trice was moved from safety to strongside linebacker on August, 1st.
