Approximately two weeks ago, five-star power forward, Ryan Kelly, narrowed down his list of schools to six programs. Well just a few days ago, the highly-touted prospect took his recruitment to the next step by setting up four of his official visits. His first stop, Vanderbilt University... Come inside to get the latest scoop on this high-profiled prospect from Raleigh, NC.

When we phoned the Kelly's residence, the gifted PF/SF was unable to be reached, due to the fact that he was at the gym honing his craft. However though, VandyMania.com did have the privilege of speaking with his mother, Doreen Kelly, to get the latest on her son's recruitment.

Roughly two weeks ago, the highly regarded prospect from out of Raleigh, North Carolina decided to narrow down his list of schools to six programs; Georgetown, Duke, North Carolina, Wake Forest, Notre Dame, and Vanderbilt, respectively. Well just recently, the 4th ranked PF in the country decided to take things a step further by mapping out four of his official visits. One school that will be graced with his presence; Vanderbilt University… So to everyone in the city of Nashville; roll out the "Red Carpet" because Mr. Kelly is coming to town.

"Vanderbilt will be the first official visit for Ryan," Mrs. Kelly said. "After that it'll be Wake Forest, Notre Dame, and then Georgetown. I think they're in that order." Ryan will also pay Duke and North Carolina a visit, but will unlikely use up an official due to the fact that both programs are right there in his backyard.

Although it may have been quite a challenge for Ryan to eliminate several of the country's elite programs from his list, Mrs. Kelly feels that her son will have the best of both worlds with either one of his six remaining choices. "We are real proud that Ryan has a list of extraordinary academic schools with really talented basketball educators; coaches that are real teachers of the game," Kelly said. "They are all really good schools. I feel like he can play with either one of the schools. I also believe that all six of them are a good academic fit for him, since he's a good student. From my perspective, Ryan can't go wrong with either one of the schools."

Mrs. Kelly admitted that the recruiting war can be a bit overwhelming to today's student-athletes. However though, she feels like her son has been handling himself quite well thus far. "Ryan is pretty systematic," Kelly said. "He's kind of going about it the old school way... He's really thinking things through. He's definitely not going to make an emotional decision like a lot of kids do today. He is going to take his visits and take his time with his decision. He has earned that right."

Ryan is expected to report to Vanderbilt on August 30th, which is a little less than two weeks away. We will have an in-depth report on how things went down for the 5-star prospect in Nashville, so stay tuned in with VandyMania.com.
