Bryson Krueger, a 6-6 freshman guard from Mountain Pointe, Ariz,. will leave the Commodore basketball team and transfer to a junior college in Arizona, Kevin Stallings announced Monday on the ISP Sports Commodore Radio Network.
Only a few days prior, Stallings had announced that Krueger would be redshirting during the 2002-03 season. Krueger had not dressed with the team or played in the Commodores' two exhibition and two regular-season games.
"Bryson has decided to leave the program," said Stallings. "He's going to return to Arizona and enroll in junior college. I don't know what his plans are from there.
"He had some issues both on and off the floor. I don't think that he was necessarily pleased with some of the decisions that were made in his regard. You try to do things to help out a kid, and that's certainly what we did with him.
"We certainly wish him the best."
Krueger's departure reduces the Commodore team to 12 scholarship players, and theoretically opens up a scholarship for the 2003-04 season. Stallings signed no players in the early signing period Nov. 13-20, because he formerly had no scholarships available to offer.
