Vandy faces another tough defense on Saturday night. The Commodore's rushing offense is now in the bottom half of the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) at 64th. Jared Hawkings leads Vanderbilt's rushing attack with 487 total yards. However, if Chris Nickson plays at quarterback for Vandy he'll likely increase the men in black and gold's rushing numbers. Kentucky, led by linebacker Micah Johnson, has the nation's 48th best rushing defense.

The Commodores have struggled passing the ball all season and over the past few games interceptions have become a sore subject in Nashville. Vanderbilt is 114th of 119 teams in the FBS in passing offense. To make matters worse, an injury to playmaker Jamie Graham could keep him out of the lineup. Kentucky has a solid passing defense and is 38th overall in pass efficiency defense. Linebacker Johnny Williams has four sacks so far this season.

Kentucky's rushing game hasn't been too explosive but with the emergence at quarterback of Tennessean Randall Cobb, a true freshman, look for the Wildcats to improve on their rushing numbers. Linebacker Patrick Benoist and defensive tackle Greg Billinger lead a solid Vanderbilt rush defense.

Cobb was 12 of 20 for 109 yards and an interception in his first start at quarterback for UK on Saturday. Look for him to improve with experience. Vandy's highly regarded secondary was embarrassed by Florida last week but who hasn't been embarrassed by the Gators?

Vanderbilt Bryant Hahnfeldt has connected on 7 of 10 field goals this season but hasn't made one since the Ole Miss game on September 20. UK's Lones Seiber has booted 7 of 14 field goals for the 'Cats.

Rich Brooks fell in his first matchup to Bobby Johnson in 2003, 28-17. Since then Brooks and his Wildcat squads have dominated Bobby Johnson and Vanderbilt and denied them of at least two bowl opportunities.
