Henderson: Vanderbilt is Definitely on Top

2010 defensive end prospect, Justin Henderson, recently took a trip up to Vanderbilt University to check things out up close and personal. Well after getting an in-depth look at what the up and coming SEC program had to offer him, the 6-4, 232 pound stud was quite overwhelmed, to say the least. VandyMania.com spoke with the big guy to get the scoop how it all went down in Nashville.

SM: Justin, you were recently invited up to Vanderbilt University for Junior Day/Super Saturday. Did you make the trip up to Nashville?

JH: Yes sir. I went up there with my dad.

SM: How long did it take you guys to get up there?

JH: It took us 7 ½ hours to get up there. But it was well worth it. It was awesome.

SM: Did you get to take a tour around the campus?

JH: Yes sir. The campus was beautiful. I liked how everything was right there; together. I also like the idea that the campus is real close to the city. Everything was just great.

SM: What did you think about the athletic facilities at Vanderbilt?

JH: They were really nice. I think they're actually adding on to their football stadium. It's going to look good when they're finished. I really loved the locker rooms and the weight room. And the practice facilities were real nice too. Everything was just nice.

SM: Vanderbilt made a verbal offer to you approximately 2 months ago; did they offer you officially while you were up there on your visit?

JH: Yes sir. They offered me while we were on the bus taking a tour around the campus. Coach Logo (Defensive Line) actually gave me the letter. Man, he is so cool (laughing).

SM: How does the offer from Vanderbilt play into effect with your recruitment?

JH: Well right now I have a top three, and Vanderbilt is definitely at the top. I'm going to go ahead and say that. Penn State and Kentucky are my other top choices…

SM: Who else has offered you?

JH: Right now I have offers from Tulsa, Colorado, Appalachian State, Texas A&M, Michigan State, Penn State, Kentucky, Duke, Syracuse, and Maryland. I think that's it.

SM: When are you looking to make your final decision?

JH: Possibly the beginning of the summer. If not, it'll definitely be before football season. I think it would be better for me to make my decision before the season starts, so I can concentrate on my senior season.

VandyMania.com will continue to keep close  tabs on this intriguing prospect from out of the 2010 recruiting class, so keep it locked right here for much more…
