VU Baseball Adds Two Games

NASHVILLE-- Vanderbilt baseball has added a doubleheader against Belmont on Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Hawkins Field. Admission is free.

The teams will play two seven-inning contests with 30 minutes between each games. VU currently has 53 games on the schedule, three under the NCAA maximum of 56 games. Both games are free admission.

"We felt we needed to add some more games and Belmont is a quality club that split a pair of games with us earlier this season," said Vanderbilt head coach Tim Corbin.

Right-hander Taylor Hill (1-1, 4.50 ERA) will get the start in the first game of the twinbill, while the starter for the nightcap is to be determined.

The Commodores are 27-20 overall and 10-13 in Southeastern Conference play after getting swept at South Carolina over the weekend.

The Bruins are 26-23 overall and 15-12 in Atlantic Sun play after dropping two of three at Lipcomb in the annual Battle of the Boulevard series. Belmont's starters were to be determined as of Monday afternoon.

After the doubleheader Vanderbilt will be back on the road in SEC play against No. 12 Georgia (33-15, 14-10 SEC). The Bulldogs were swept at home by Florida last weekend and moved from first overall in the standings into sixth place. The teams will play at 6 p.m. CT on Friday, Noon CT on Saturday and 1 p.m. CT on Sunday. Saturday's game will be televised regionally by CSS.
