Rashad Knight Likes Vanderbilt Coaches

Cornerback Rashad Knight is one of the most highly recruited prospects from out of the 2010 recruiting class. The 5-10, 175 pound CB is currently holding scholarship offers from a number of major DI programs throughout the country; one of which comes from Vanderbilt University. VandyMania.com caught up with the Sunshine State prospect to get his latest thoughts on the recruiting front.

Rashad Kinght , a 5-10, 175 pound cornerback prospect who clocks a 4.45 in the forty yard dash has accumulated a boatload of offers from several high profiled programs across the country. And needless to say, the gifted athlete from out of Trinity Christian Academy has been enjoying the process early on.

"Recruiting has been going really well for me," Knight told VandyMania.com. "Actually, it's going better that I thought it would. I have 12 offers right now. They are from Michigan, Illinois, BYU, Maryland, Indiana, Minnesota, Louisville, Georgia Tech, Purdue, Syracuse, and Vanderbilt. There is actually one other school that has offered me, but I can't remember which school it was. I always forget one school (laughing)…"

As you can see, Knight clearly has no shortage of options. However though, there are five particular programs that have simply made a strong impression on the highly-touted prospect early on. With that in mind, how did the Commodores factor into the equation? "Right now I would have to say that Michigan, Illinois, Vanderbilt, Louisville, and Georgia Tech are the schools that I am highly interested in right now," Knight told VandyMania.com. "I haven't been able to visit any of those schools just yet, but I'd like to visit them sometime over the summer, to see what all they have to offer."

With the Evaluation Period into full swing, several coaches have already made their way though Jacksonville, Florida to check on the physical corner, including a member for the Vanderbilt Coaching Staff. "Coach Bryant stopped by to check on me the other day," Knight said. "He seems to be real down to earth. He also seems like the type that tells you how it is. I really like that about him, that type of stuff really gets my attention."

Although Bryant made the trip out to Trinity Christian, Knight informed VandyMania.com that Coach Fisher has been the main guy keeping close tabs on him. And the two of them have been able to establish a dialogue early on. "Coach Fisher has been primarily recruiting me from Vanderbilt," Knight said. "We've talked quite a few times. I really like Coach Fisher; he's a really nice guy to talk to."

Although Vandy will be in a tough battle with some of the top programs in the country for Rashad Knight's signature, it is safe to say that the Commodores are in good standing for his services. However for Knight, he will continue to gather information on the schools of choice and determine where he feels most comfortable.
