Ohio Star Impressed by Vanderbilt

Josh Harrison knows what he wants in a school and Vanderbilt is "definitely in the picture." Harrison, a star middle linebacker for Wayne high school in the Buckeye State, has already attracted offers from several Big Ten and MAC schools and could soon be offered by the Commodore staff. Read inside to find out what Harrison likes about the Vanderbilt program.

Linebacker Josh Harrison was all over the field for his team during the 2008 season. The 6-foot-1, 220 pounder finished the season with an impressive 90 tackles, 2 interceptions and 7 sacks. Harrison's exploits have attracted the attention of several Football Bowl Subdivision teams including the likes Vanderbilt, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, North Carolina, Toledo and Ball State. In fact, Wisconsin, Ball State and Toledo have already extended offers to Harrison.

Like many high school football prospects that are hoping to play at the next level Harrison is looking for solid, winning football along with top-notch academics. Josh said that he's looking for a place where he "can be part of a championship team. But also a place that creates the best future for me."

While Vanderbilt has yet to offer Harrison, they impress him. Harrison is attracted to not only the solid academics of Vandy but he is also familiar with an incoming Commodore freshman that just graduated from Wayne. "Vanderbilt is definitely in the picture. The location is perfect, I know I would have a great future coming from Vandy, the program is rising in the SEC and I would love to be a part of that, and a defensive back, Javon Marshall, is going to be there too and I would love to play with him again in the future."

Although Harrison hasn't visited Vanderbilt yet he says that he is trying to get down to one of their camps.

One other school that Harrison believes could be on the verge of offering is Northwestern. "Northwestern is very interested and wants to make sure that I'm the right guy for them to offer," said Harrison. Harrison continued, "a lot of schools have been coming through Wayne and a few said that they liked my film and want me to come to their camp."

Harrison says he has no favorites yet and is unsure of when he'll make a decision. "I guess I will whenever I think I'm ready," said Harrison.
