So-Cal linebacker likes Vanderbilt

Vanderbilt recruits nationally and star linebacker Bronson Green is looking nation-wide for a school to play football at the next level. Green may not be a household name but the staffs at Vanderbilt, Duke, Washington and others like what they see on his tape. Look inside to learn more about emerging prospect.

Among the top linebackers in the Southern California region, Bronson Green was recently selected to Tom Lemming's list of the top 50 players in Southern California. After his junior year Green earned All-Sera League honors, leading Loyola in tackles with 86 and finishing second in the Sera League. He also had four sacks and four forced fumbles and was named the Defensive Rookie of the Year.

Although he has no offers yet, Green is receiving healthy interest from multiple schools. He has been in contact with the Vanderbilt coaching staff and mailed his tape to them for evaluation. The Vanderbilt coaches liked what they saw and invited him to attend the Rising Seniors II camp on June 20.

Green is impressed by the solid academics and normal college life style for athletes at the Nashville school, "A lot of people don't really talk about Vanderbilt ... but I want the full college experience. As bad as it sounds I want to do my own laundry [laughs], I want to really experience college life." Green should do fine with Vanderbilt's rigorous academics as he has a 3.92 GPA and did well on the SAT. He is receiving heavy interest from several Ivy League schools as well. The thought of playing in the ultra tough SEC also appeals to Green, "That would be a dream come true. Everybody in the nation knows that the SEC is by far the best conference in the country."

In addition to Vanderbilt, Green is receiving interest from Stanford, Washington, Duke, Virginia, UCLA, California, Brown, Penn, and Princeton. He has visited Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina and Duke. He plans to camp at Washington on June 25 and he recently camped at hometown UCLA.

Green says that Vanderbilt, Duke and Washington are recruiting him the hardest. However, he has not named any favorites.

Green describes himself as an old school player. "I'm not flashy. I don't run around screaming and hollering. I'll get after you and knock you in the mouth. If you can get up, good for you because the next play I'm going to come after you and knock you down again."

Stay tuned to for more on this future college star.
