Commodores pick up another receiver commitment

Vanderbilt picked up its 17th football commitment for 2002 Monday when George Smith, a 6-3, 190-pound wide receiver from Hollywood, Fla., committed to play for the Commodores.

George Smith is a tall and fast wide receiver from Hollywood Hills High School in Hollywood, Fla. At 6-3 and 190 pounds with 4.4 speed, Smith has the ability to make an early impact at the school of his choice, and he made his choice last night.

"I committed to Vanderbilt," said Smith. "I really enjoyed my visit, and I think I have a good chance to play as a freshman. My education is very important to me, and Vanderbilt offers one of the best."

Smith is an excellent overall athlete that competes in the long jump, triple jump and 400 meters for his track team as well as play basketball. "We just had our last all star game yesterday for football, and now I think I'm ready to join the basketball team."
