Baseball: Vanderbilt 10, ISU 4

LOUISVILLE-- Aaron Westlake's 3-run homer vaulted Vanderbilt to a 10-4 victory over Illinois State in a game spanned over 3 hours and forty minutes. The two teams combined for 9 errors and 17 walks. Vanderbilt will now face No. 1 seed Louisville at 3:37 p.m. CT.

Jack Armstrong started the game but lasted just 4 innings, allowing just one hit but walking six. Will Clinard (WP) took over but allowed four hits and a run in just an inning of work. Drew Hayes pitched two 2/3s solid innings, allowing no hits and striking out three. Chase Reid finished up the game for the Commodores to get the save.

The game was particularly frustrating for Vanderbilt base running and hitting. The Commodores left 17 runners on base and despite seven errors by the Redbirds the No. 2 seeded ‘Dores only led by a single run heading into the ninth before Westlake's homer.

Vanderbilt improves to 43-18 and will need to defeat Louisville today and again on Monday in order to advance to a super regional (site TBA). The Commodore victory ended Illinois State's (32-24) season.
