Vandy Commit Talks About Recent Decision

The Vanderbilt Coaching Staff has secured their first commitment for their 2011 recruiting class in the form of a 6-5, 275 pound offensive tackle who goes by the name of James Lewis. Inside VandyMania has more on the big guy's recent pledge to the ‘Dores.

Shedrick Moorer: How does it feel to have your final decision out of the way?

James Lewis: It feels like a big weight has been lifted off of my shoulders. I really feel like I have made the right decision.

SM: What was the coaching staff's reaction when you first informed them of the news?

JL: When I called and told Coach Johnson the news he seemed very happy about my decision. He told me that I made his day. He also told me that I would be a good contributor to the team.

SM: What other program(s) did you consider before making your final decision?

JL: I was also considering Illinois. Illinois was actually the only other school that offered me a scholarship.

SM: When did Vanderbilt actually offer you a scholarship?

JL: It was back in March or April when Vanderbilt first offered me. It was somewhere around that time.

SM: What was your first reaction when you received your offer from Vanderbilt?

JL: I was very shocked when they first offered me. I really wasn't expecting an offer from them to be honest.

SM: What are your thoughts about competing in the SEC?

JL: Well, the SEC is the toughest conference in college football. And it feels good to know that when I actually get there, I'll be competing against some of the toughest competition in the country.

SM: What can Vanderbilt fans expect from you as an athlete on the field?

JL: They can expect a lineman that is going to work hard, and a lineman that is going to be dedicated to the team. I am going to do whatever I can to help Vanderbilt win games. Top Stories
