Georgia RB/LB on verge of offers

He can run, catch, and tackle; he's got good size and solid 4.5 forty speed. He's got everything but an offer but that could change soon. Coaches from Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Navy, Middle Tennessee, Ohio State, Vanderbilt and others have taken notice of his abilities and an offer could be coming in the near future.

"They all tell me good things but it just never happens," replied a frustrated Zach Laskey when asked if he had an offer yet. However, the Fayetteville, Ga. (Starrs Mill HS) player has been working hard doing the camp circuit and from the sound of things he could be getting that first offer soon.

As a junior Laskey ran from 810 yards and 9 touchdowns while averaging an impressive 6.57 yards per carry. He has solid 4.5 forty-speed and good size at 6-foot-2, 205 pounds. Laskey can catch too, as evidenced by his over 200 receiving yards as a junior.

Here's a look at some of the recent interest that Laskey has been receiving:

Georgia Tech - Laskey was in Atlanta on June 12th for the Tech camp. He performed well and a coach pulled him aside and told him, "If you are patient and want to be a Yellow Jacket, you'll be a Yellow Jacket."

Navy - A Navy coach emailed Laskey and asked him to call. Laskey contacted the coach who revealed that Navy wanted him to visit and will probably offer him in the fall. Laskey wants to visit Annapolis for a Mids home game during the upcoming season.

Kentucky - Laskey camped in Lexington on June 19th where he won the running backs drill. He said the UK coaches explained to him that they are only planning to sign one running back but might offer Laskey as a wide receiver.

Middle Tennessee - Laskey camped in Murfreesboro in late May but didn't get an offer. Laskey, whose brother played for Middle Tennessee, says he is getting weekly hand-written letters from the MT staff.

Ohio State - Laskey plans to camp at Ohio State on Saturday. The OSU coaches contacted his coach and Laskey to encourage him to camp in Columbus. An OSU coach will give him and Starrs Mill teammate Jeff Greene (WR) a tour of the campus.

Central Florida - Laskey will visit UCF on Thursday along with 20-30 other prospects.

Furman - Coaches say they may offer Laskey in the fall.

Vanderbilt - Laskey, who is hoping to hear more from the Nashville school's coaches, is considering attending their Rising Star camp on July 18th.
