Florida receiver hopes for offer at VU camp

Despite a change in head coaches business will go on as usual at Vanderbilt. This weekend the Commodore staff will host many top prospects at their "Rising Star" camp and 7-on-7 passing tournament. Virtually all of these players will be in the hunt for a Vanderbilt offer. One of those players is Brendan Meyers of Park Vista high school in Florida.

His stats aren't phenomenal but watch his video below and you'll see why college coaches are very interested in gaining his services. Vanderbilt is one of those schools and this weekend wide receiver Brendan Meyers will get a chance to showcase his talents in Nashville.

Last year playing for Park Vista high school in Lake Worth, Florida Brendan Meyers had just 10 catches for 200 yards while playing in an offense that runs 95 percent of the time. Despite the low number of catches the 6-foot-1, 180 pound receiver caught the attention of opposing coaches who voted him to the 2nd team all-conference team.

Meyers believes his solid route running technique, blocking ability and great hands are his strengths. He has confidence that he will put up bigger numbers this season because he has gained more muscle, has gotten stronger and is more experienced. The athletic Meyers also runs track and competes in the 100, 200, and hurdles. His best time in the 100 is 11.3 seconds.

Coach Logo from Vanderbilt has been in frequent contact with Meyers. Logo came by Park Vista and spoke with Meyers. Meyers said that Logo told him, "We really want you to come by so we can evaluate you." "They told me they are really interested in me but I must camp there to get an offer, "continued Meyers.

After being limited from participating in other camps this summer because of a pulled groin muscle, Meyers said he's been training for the Vandy camp for three months and will travel to Nashville with his father.

Besides Vanderbilt Meyers is hearing from several schools including Florida Atlantic, Rutgers, Minnesota, UCF, Ohio, Miami (Ohio), William & Mary and Charleston Southern. Meyer's said his main goal when in Nashville was to pick up an offer. When asked what other schools he is favoring besides Vanderbilt he said, "no one, I just want Vanderbilt." Meyers said he'd commit on the spot if offered by the VU staff.
