D.J. Hill Discusses His Top 5

About two weeks ago, Newton High two-way star, D.J. Hill, took his recruitment to the next step when he narrowed down his list of schools to five programs. VandyMania recently spoke with the talented Peach State prospect to get his take on each of the programs in his personal top five. Come and get the latest news inside.

Newton High School OLB/RB prospect, D.J. Hill, recently trimmed his list of schools to five programs and the Commodores made the cut. "Right now my top five is Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Middle Tennessee, and Southern Miss," Hill informed VandyMania in a recent interview.

The 6-1, 215 pound OLB/RB prospect went on to share with us what he likes about each of the programs in his personal top five, starting with Ole Miss.

Ole Miss - "They were the first school to offer me back in September. And ever since then we've had a pretty good relationship. I've visited Ole Miss three times already. I went up there for an actual game, a spring game, and for a camp. I love the facilities, I love the people there, and I love the surroundings/environment."

Vanderbilt – "The campus is real nice. I love the campus and its surroundings; I really love the city of Nashville. The academics are very well at Vanderbilt. I also like the coaching staff a lot. Coach Kitchings is the recruiter for my area, and we have a real good relationship. I really do like the school a lot."

Virginia – "I've never had a chance to visit Virginia, but I like where they are going with their program. I really like what they're doing with their program as far as recruiting; stuff like that."

Middle Tennessee – "I haven't visited there either, but I've been doing a lot of research on their program. I also like the direction they are headed in."

Southern Miss – I talk to the coaches from Southern Miss a lot. And their football team is coming up. They did real well in the bowl game last season. They also told me that I'd be able to play baseball for them, if I was to choose them."

Hill informed us that a decision could be forthcoming fairly soon. In fact, it is his intentions to have his decision out of the way before his senior season gets underway. And from the sounds of things, it appears that Ole Miss will be the team to beat.

"Right now I'd have to say Ole Miss has the edge," Hill said. "Like I mentioned before, they were the first school to offer me back in September. Actually, they were the only school talking to me for a long time. I didn't receive my second offer until February."

We will be bringing you much more on Hill's recruitment in the near future, so keep it tuned in right here with VandyMania.com.
