VUSports Villanova Basketball Recruiting Peach Jam Preview

We brought you exclusive Villanova specific recruiting coverage of Nike EYBL Hampton and Atlanta earlier this year and now VUSports will be in Georgia to cover the action at Nike EYBL Peach Jam later this week. Here is a preview of the event.

The Nike EYBL season comes to a conclusion this week in North Augusta, South Carolina at Peach Jam.

VUSports will be on-hand to provide exclusive coverage of the event (which runs from 06-10 July) - this is a quick preview of some of the players in action of interest to Wildcat fans.

Class of 2017 Verbals

The Cats first verbal for the Class of 2017 came from Cosby-Roundtree back in April after 'Nova won the National Championship.  His stock has been rising this spring and summer as he is beginning to hone a skill package to go with his bouncy athleticism and work ethic in the post.

Class of 2017 Prospects

The primary wing target for Villanova at this stage is this highly skilled and highly athletic two-guard from Reading.  Walker has a great blend of quickness, leaping ability and strength for the wing position.  He is lethal in transition and has the shooting ability to really catch fire from beyond the three-point arc.  'Nova has been on him seemingly forever but he also has interest from Virginia, Syracuse, UConn, Indiana, West Virginia and others.

Young for his class, Hameir Wright is an intriguing prospect that the Cats are pursuing.  Wright is likely to visit Villanova in August to get a close look at the program.  He has a good mix of inside and outside skills for his height and is an active and vocal defensive player.

The Cats have been gaining some traction with this elite scorer.  His stock has been rising based on his play in EYBL.  He is particularly skilled at using his speed and guile to draw fouls and score many of his points at the free-throw line.

Class of 2018 Prospect

Smith recently played in the Villanova team camp for Mount St. Joseph's (MD) High School - the alma mater of current Villanova Junior, Phil Booth .  Smith is lean and wiry and long-term is likely to play more on the perimeter than down in the paint.  He is a good leaper and shot-blocker but needs to work to improve his ball skills and shooting.
