Neumann-Goretti defeated Archbishop Carroll 73-55 at Neumann last night to advance to a showdown with Roman Catholic in the Philadelphia Catholic League Semi-finals. Villanova signee, 6-8, forward, Dhamir Cosby-Roundtree led the charge for Neumann-Goretti with 22 points and 21 rebounds.
Also advancing to the Semis with a win last night was Archbishop Wood and their Senior leader, Villanova verbal commit, Collin Gillespie. Despite a bit of an off-shooting night, Gillespie posted 21 points and dished out 6 assists to lead the Vikings to a 65-43 win over Bonner-Prendergast. Wood, the #1 seed in the PCL playoffs, will face Archbishop Ryan in the night-cap of next week's Semi-finals double-header.
Philly hoops aficionados are hoping the finals will be a rematch between Archbishop Wood and Neumann-Goretti. The two teams fought an epic battle at Archbishop Ryan a few weeks back in which 42 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists from Collin Gillespie led Wood to an 83-72 win over Neumann. Dhamir Cosby-Roundtree and his teammate, Kentucky-bound, McDonald's All-American, Quade Green are on a mission to reclaim the Philly Catholic League title for Neumann and hold off the "upstart" Vikings.
